I have said this multiple times on various threads. This time I am starting the post. The travel "contract" is NOT A LEGALLY BINDING DOCUMENT. All employment is regulated by state laws. Every state allows employers to terminate an employee " with or without cause". The sole purpose of the "contract" (Some companies refer to it as a "work agreement") is to be used by the travel company to heavy hand nurses that don't know any better, to manipulate them into thinking that they are obligated in some way. You can leave a contract anytime you like. A travel company can suggest that you may owe them something if you cancel a contract. They can hold your last check. That is illegal, but it's usually cost prohibitive to fight it. Just remember this, your relationship with a travel company starts out on a lie. And there are many other lies written into it. The "contract" is always written to benefit the author (not the nurse). Don't be afraid to sign the "contract" or walk out on a bad assignment. Better to lose your last check, than your nursing license.
