KTM recently unveiled an exciting new concept at the challenging Red Bull Erzbergrodeo event in Austria – a semi-automatic large-capacity V-twin adventure bike. This innovative bike, ridden by French enduro legend Johnny Aubert, is being referred to as the KTM AMT, which stands for ‘Automatic Manual Transmission’. Key Features and Development The KTM AMT demo bike, showcased on KTM's social media platforms, features a revolutionary gearbox that eliminates the need for a clutch lever. A spokesperson from KTM confirmed to MCN that a new transmission system is indeed in the works. If brought to market, this new model aims to compete with Honda’s successful Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) models, which have already surpassed 200,000 units in sales. BMW is also exploring similar technology with their clutchless prototype R1300GS adventure bike, known as Automated Shift Assistant.
